Grass Harrowing

Harrowing is an essential part of equine management and vital to producing good pastureland.  Grass harrowing is the process of removing dead thatch, weeds, and any debris from the pasture.  Harrowing reduces the risk of disease of the grass by exposing any bacteria directly to the sunlight to kill it. It also promotes air movement and root aeration which helps the soil to breathe and improves water infiltration. Grass harrowing is best suited to warmer conditions when the ground is not saturated.
